Premium High-efficiency Modular YRM20 Overview

The YRM20 is Yamaha’s premium modular surface mounter built to deliver very high throughput while keeping flexibility for high-mix production. The “1 head solution” concept is designed to cover everything from ultra-small chips to larger components, with features aimed at maintaining operating rate and reducing changeover effort.

The Yamaha 1-head Solution

  • RM head: A newly developed head combining high-speed chip mounting with flexibility for mid-sized components up to 12mm, T6.5mm.
  • HM head: Enables high-speed mounting and flexibility for larger components using 10 proven inline heads + scan camera.
  • Dual stage conveyor: Yamaha’s “Internal dual stage” improves efficiency (including dual lane mounting via a single lane) and supports large PCBs up to L810mm.

Keeping Operating Rate High in High-Mix Production

  • ALF: Center-open method supports non-skilled operation, tape/reel presetting, labor-saving, and improved pickup rate.
  • ZS feeder: Lightweight single feeder (reel attached) supports external setup/changeovers and reduces operator load.
  • Non-stop feeder replacement carriage: Allows inserting/removing feeders during mounting to enable replacement with no machine downtime.
  • IT option – Components Remain Counter: Pre-warning of component shortage to prepare spare reels and splice tape before the machine stops.
  • Automatic changeovers: Reduces changeover errors and downtime on multi-connected lines by executing the “next changeover” when the next PCB lot arrives (automatic push-up pin changeover also available).

Quality, Maintenance & Traceability

  • Side-view camera: Monitors nozzle tip images to detect pickup attitude issues (missing parts, vertical mounting errors, reversed components).
  • Reduced impact on ultra-small components: Lighter unsprung/unsupported weight helps reduce mounting shocks.
  • Nozzle ID management: Maintenance based on shot count; ANC holders can be mounted/removed in one batch for easier nozzle maintenance.
  • Self-recovery & self-diagnosis: Nozzle health care and feeder maintenance warnings help keep stable quality and uptime.
  • IT option – Production Setup Verify: Barcode checks during changeovers/refills; also supports Material Time Limit Management & Bin Code Management.
  • M2M traceability: IT traceability option identifies defective-lot range; ALL Image Tracer saves recognition images and supports factor analysis; dashboard analytics support productivity and defect root-cause investigation.
